Long T. Trieu

Long T. Trieu, MBA, Director of Research,Co-founder

Metis Value Partners, LLC

Although he didn’t realize it at the time, Mr. Trieu began his career in the world of finance and investment management when, at the age of 15, he read The Intelligent Investor by the legendary dean of security analysis, Benjamin Graham. A few years later, Long received a full scholarship for his undergraduate studies which lead to a degree at Lynn University. He followed his undergraduate work with an MBA from Lynn University in 2005.

Following graduation, he accepted an opportunity to join Northern Trust Value Investors (NTVI) as an intern. This position enabled him to work closely with the investment management team where he demonstrated his capabilities and value-based intellect. The internship position quickly morphed into a full-time position as a valuable addition to the investment research team as one of the two analysts for Northern Trust's Large Cap Value team with $5.0B in AUM. In this role, he continued to hone his investment skills being mentored by several key experienced professionals with tenures of greater than 70 years combined.

After a successful role at NTVI, Mr. Trieu left the firm in 2010 to join a former NTVI colleague in the management of Cultiva Capital, a value oriented investment management firm serving high net worth clientele. Shortly after, Mr. Trieu joined up with Cherry Asset management in 2011 where he was the sole portfolio manager responsible for creating the investment philosophy and processes, managing three distinct value strategies: value, international value and worldwide dividend income. His record at Cherry is impressive, particularly when the record was achieved using only the Value Line service together with corporate filings with the SEC. Additionally, Mr. Trieu created the strategies and posted strong results during the most difficult period for value managers in decades.

In January 2017, Mr. Trieu created Metis Value Partners, LLC with Steve Kent, his former mentor and CIO of NTVI. Mr. Trieu is Co-founder and Director of Research for Metis Value Partners, LLC.

His passion outside investing includes outdoor activities and motorsports especially Porsche and Mercedes.
